Value Quest: Find, Document, and Profit from Your Hidden Treasures
The Challenge
For this week’s challenge, it is time to look around your home and find 3-5 valuable items you can list online for sale. This is not only a great way to declutter and make some extra money, but also an opportunity to appreciate the items you own. That said, for this challenge you don’t have to actually make a sale. The goal is just to put yourself in a position to make that happen!
Remember one person’s junk is another person’s treasure - good luck!
Estimated Time To Complete: 1-3 hours
The Backstory
Sales. Ads. Influencers. Sponsorships. We're getting hit from all sides with people trying to snatch up our hard-earned cash. In this endless cycle of making money, saving money, and spending money, we totally miss out on the goldmine of stuff we already own—stuff we’ve barely even touched (or better yet, taken amazing care of)!
Our homes are stuffed to the gills with unused and forgotten treasures. Birthdays, graduations, weddings—they all leave us with closets packed with things we'll never touch again. And as this pile of stuff grows, we end up trapped by things we don’t need, feeling frustrated and stressed. This clutter not only hogs our space, making our homes feel like a hot mess, but it also makes us feel disorganized and overwhelmed.
Plus, all this stuff is just missed opportunities for some extra cash and a greener lifestyle. Want to know how crazy the problem really is? The average American household contains about 300,000 items, and Americans have an estimated $43 billion worth of unused items just sitting in their homes!
Maybe your neighbor moved out and dumped all their junk on you. Maybe you got a little too excited at a garage sale. Or maybe someone offloaded more baby or kid stuff on you than a Black Friday sale at Target. Whatever the case, it’s time to let it go. You can even dress as Elsa and take that last point to a whole new level while you do this.
So go on, find those items, and free yourself from the unnecessary clutter. You’ll be doing yourself, your neighbors, the environment, and your wallet a huge favor!
